ARRI ALEXA XR Studio

Standard

Overview

The best of both worlds

At the pinnacle of ARRI Media’s ALEXA camera range is the ALEXA XR Studio - an ALEXA Studio camera that has been upgraded with the ALEXA XR Module (Extended Recording) to provide in-camera ARRIRAW recording.

Featuring a quiet, adjustable mirror shutter and an optical viewfinder that provides a real-time, high contrast image with true colors, the Studio meets cinematographers’ requests for a camera that perfectly combines cutting edge digital image-making with traditional elements of the film cameras they have known and trusted for generations.

Its 4:3 Super 35 sensor makes the Studio the ideal partner for anamorphic lenses, while the addition of the XR Module allows in-camera ARRIRAW recording up to 120 fps onto exceptionally fast and rugged 512 GB XR Capture Drives. Co-developed with Codex, the XR Module not only makes for a smaller, lighter and more affordable camera package, it also simplifies setup and operation. The result is an even faster and more reliable way to record ARRIRAW, ALEXA's highest quality image output. Once removed from the camera, the XR Capture Drive offers a number of different paths into post, using the proven Codex workflow.

For maximum flexibility, the optical viewfinder can be removed and replaced with the ALEXA EVF-1 electronic viewfinder. The Studio also comes equipped with 120 fps high speed functionality as standard (120 fps achievable in 16:9 with mirror shutter off. High Speed mode not supported in 4:3).
